The government has established high-quality Institutes of Technology (IoTs) to provide employers with a skilled workforce and students with a clear route to technical employment. The Greater Birmingham & Solihull IoT (GBSIoT) specialises in Engineering and Manufacturing and is a consortium led by Solihull College & University Centre, working alongside Aston University, Birmingham City University and South and City College Birmingham as core partners and supported by BMet College, University College Birmingham and the University of Birmingham. GBSIoT collaboratively designs, develops and broadens education and training opportunities aligned to the latest skills needs of leading employers in the sector.
We wish to recruit a dynamic GBSIoT Technical Services Engineer to develop, supervise and provide technical and IT support to the GBSIoT team and our stakeholders for a range of programmes to optimise investment into Europe’s largest educational Cyber Physical Manufacturing Rig (CPMR). The Technical Services Engineer must be able to provide support to academic colleagues and students and assist in promoting effective learning, teaching and assessment practices and/or to assist in research and knowledge transfer activities.
Candidates will need to evidence they have undertaken relevant technical, software and hardware training together with proven experience of using and maintaining automation and robotics equipment. A sound working knowledge of Industry 4.0 principles and the ability to support research study and curriculum development programmes will be vital in this new and exciting role within the GBSIoT.
